Our Journey

The Center did not start with a building. It grew out of ten years of planting, testing and teaching.

The Center did not start with a building. It grew out of ten years of planting, testing and teaching.

2016: Coffee in the forest

We begin planting Arabica coffee at our farm in Doi Saket, under forest shade beside wild Assam tea.

2020: Skugga is founded

Skugga is founded in Ban Sahakorn, Mae On, with a simple idea: where lifestyle meets agriculture.

2022: Tree to bar

Chocolate made from cacao grown in Mae On is promoted by Mae On District. Payap University's Faculty of Business makes the first university study visit.

2023: A tropical vineyard

Our vines are planted at the vineyard in Ban Sahakorn 1. The Chiang Mai Governor promotes Skugga coffee, and the district office visits the estate.

2025: Giving back

We support the Sub-district Administrative Organization's work for local children. The GMI School of Management Innovation brings students to study our farm-to-market model.

2026: The Learning Center

We publish our handbook series in English and Thai. We open the Dairy Research Workshop and the Dairy & Meat Curing Research Room, and formally launch the Skugga Mae On Agricultural Learning Center.

Today

More than 7,000 learners have now joined us: tourists, families, school groups, university students, farmers and officials. We work with a highland research center on cacao tree development. Each pillar team keeps records that feed straight back into our handbooks. We have welcomed Mae On District Chief Chalit Thipkham, the Chiang Mai Governor, and the Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Chiang Mai office to see this work first-hand.
